Yay for Virut!
Yay for Virut!
If no one's familiar with that name, for the past week my PC's been attacked by the notorious Virut, and it's latest strain, Virtu. Damn painful, I had it for only 1 day and had no idea why AVG wasn't able to clean it, so I ended up PTing with my friend for the rest of the day. In the meantime, it infected well over 50000 .exe's in my PC as well as countless other trojans have entered via a backdoor.
Found out LogonUI wouldn't work the next day, could barely enter the PC somehow. Got Kaspersky and fixed it after religious googling (not to mention, Virus ate my bandwith like Muir with...many things. Or Xene with Ice Cream.) Regardless, after several days of PC scanning, googling, getting so many softwares, research, I believe my PC's back to good health (though I'm not certain on how stable the system is -- its almost as good as it was back then, but Logon UI seems to be corrupted beyond repair and some files have trojans popping up now and then) so it's probably due a good reformat, but for now at least I've saved all my data for everything at least.
But yeah, I'm alive and well. =o

Stop looking at porn.
But yeah, seriously, I'd suggest a firewall, Firefox with Noscript, Ad-Aware, and Spybot.

I've got all those and more, by now.
Whew, I'm no longer going by that 'only 1 Anti-Virus is enough' mantra that's been drilled onto my head in fear of conflicts.

Yes, you need multiple anti-virus programs, just to be safe.
And at least 2kg of thermite.
